Kari is a licensed social worker who has been in the human services field since 2009. She has a diverse background of professional experience ranging from school and community social work, residential treatment facilitating, county casework, and crisis intervention. During Kari’s graduate level practice, she gained excellent experience as a therapist in both outpatient and inpatient settings that offered a dual diagnosis program for substance abuse and mental health. She also provided trauma focused therapy to woman of domestic violence and sexual assault. This past year Kari has been providing psychotherapy to adolescents and adults within a private practice. She transitioned to Avers & Biddle Counseling Associates at the start of 2023.
Kari enjoys seeing an eclectic group of clients and is committed to providing a warm, non-judgmental space to foster a positive pathway to mental health. Her method is both collaborative, trauma-informed, and person-centered, and is always rooted in evidence-based practices. Her proficiency in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Acceptance and Commitment Therapy present opportunities to reflect and identify underlying issues, while also offering skills and tools to use in moments of great distress. Kari specializes in the treatment of mood disorders such as anxiety and depression, stress-management, substance misuse, and grief and loss, with an emphasis in trauma and PTSD. She will work with you to create an individualized treatment plan that best supports you in meeting your own therapeutic goals. Kari offers an ideal environment for reflection and sustainable change.
